Custom Closet Systems
A great balance of appearance, function, and cost
The most common custom closet solution.
Will look better and last longer than DIY systems from big-box stores
Typically made of premium melamine laminate
Somewhat customizable appearance. Typically built in white. Other styles and colors are available, but options are somewhat limited.
Can be built for a custom fit. Parts can be made to fit an exact size, shape, or function.
Less expensive than custom cabinetry. More expensive than DIY systems
Custom Cabinetry
Makes a statement with a luxury look and feel.
The best appearance. Imagine the appearance and build-quality of custom built-in shelving or premium cabinets
The most durable. Typically made with real hardwood and premium cabinet finishes
The most customizable, especially in color. Choose any color or wood tone. Choose any door/drawer style.
The most expensive of the 3 options. Combine a custom cabinetry element into a standard closet system to get some of the benefit at a lower cost.
DIY Systems
• An upgrade from wire shelving. Can provide much more effective storage.
• Popular due to cost and speed. As long as parts are in-stock at a big-box store, these systems can be installed right away.
• The least durable. Made of low-cost melamine laminate and hardware. It’s not uncommon to see these systems falling apart after a few years of use, especially if not carefully installed
• The least customizable. Very limited sizes, shapes, and colors. It May be very hard to use all of your closet space effectively.
• Built for DIY, but may require more advanced tools or skills than most DIY projects.
• The least expensive option.
